TV Show files

This is probably a bit of a newbie question but here goes. I’ve got Kodi installed and am trying to add files. I can add movies no problem but I am having trouble adding TV show episodes. I can add the files folder but they don’t show up anywhere. Plus no TV show tab shows up on home screen. Movie tab shows fine. Am I doing something wrong, why aren’t these files being recognised, especially as TV episodes. Any help will be appreciated.
