Hey Guys –
I use Kodi on many devices and consider myself a more advanced user. My primary Kodi system is a dedicated Windows 10 workstation which connects to my main TV via HDMI. Most of my media is accessed on a 42tb drive pool over the LAN, but still need the lice TV option – especially for sports – so – yesterday, I signed up for a 7 day trial of SlingTV and choose the Orange+Blue package +Sports. As with many other similar multimedia apps, I assumed there would be a Kodi add-on waiting for me to install, but was incorrect.
The only add-on I found which seemed to have promise was “Sling Client” yet it failed to install. I was going to download the zip and manually install, but when looking for it online, found out the add-on was for SlingBox – not SlingTV – which is a completely different service. Therefore, the only Kodi integration I have currently configured for it is a home shortcut which takes you to an “Advanced Installer” list where you may launch SlingTV’s EXE from it’s standard Windows installer. Even when doing this, I cannot control / navigate within the app using my remote (I use my TV remote via a Flirc USB stick.) Also, I can’t seem to find a way to close it (to go back to Kodi) as I can do using Ctrl-W when using “Chrome Launcher“.
Does anyone know if there is an add-on is development – or – perhaps a better workaround? SlingTV supports many platforms including two that support Windows 10 system (a standard application and a Win10 App Store app. It would obviously be ideal for it to work in Kodi just as it does in its native app and even include a program guide, but all I want to be able to do is be able to launch it from within Kodi, navigate and play content, then switch back to Kodi – all using my remote. Perhaps I could find a way to navigate the SlingTV app using EventGhost then assign keys to another device on my remote which I can program using Flirc.
Anyways, if anyone has any news, information, or suggestions; please let me know – Thanks!
