As someone with signal processing background, I have the feeling that aligning the subtitle to the audio channel is plausible.
This will save a lot of time of annoyingly searching manually for the subtitle delay.
I don’t know kodi code enough to make something like that but I can help prototyping it in python.
The idea is just to correlate the audio channel, filtered around speech frequencies, with the subtitle timestamps to find the optimal delay.
