Install issues

I’ll try this again to see if I get an appropriate answer that works. I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit, with Kodi Jarvis 16.1. It works great, as all the earlier versions do. When I try to install any of the Kodi 17 Krypton builds, I immediately get error 0xc000007b when I try to run it. It has been said that “this is a Windows error”, but how can that be….if I can run all the other versions of Kodi?? I have tried every suggestion online for “correcting this error” but nothing works. What has changed in Kodi that is keeping me from running any version of Kodi Krypton?? Thank you for your time.
