This has just started cropping up for me in the latest versions of kodi, the 16 stable release and the 17 beta release using the default install. Basically what happens is it seems local video playback will start to have audio pops and brief static interuptions then as time goes in it gets worse and worse. It also seems to increase in frequency during action scenes so it feels like the pc is having trouble keeping up with the video file. If I quit kodi and restart it goes back to the lesser version of the crackling interruptions but will soon be back to the big ones.
Thing is playback works just fine in vlc and smplayer on the same files, so don’t know what kodi is doing differently that it can’t play the files. The pc is a probably 6 or 7 year old ‘best bang for the buck gaming pc’ I think the card is a GeForce 470, it should be more than enough to play the videos.
I don’t have the pc in front of me to look at but is there any place to look for what could be causing this?
