Kodi does not pick up my external HDD as a source

Hi,

I hope you can help me. I installed kodi 16.1 on linux mint.

I am trying to load my video library into kodi.

I go to videos->files->files (here i can see my external drive)->Add Videos. From here i cannot see my external drive. I go to the root folder, and then to MNT i still cannot see the external drive.

Please help or let me know if you have any further questions.
