16.1 Video & Audio playback issues

Thanks for any help you can give… I’ve spent hours trying to figure this out.

Kodi 16.1 on a Windows 7 PC (Intel I5-4300U, 8GB RAM, SSD, Gig NIC directly connected to HP Procurve router, files streaming from Synology NAS using SMB) – all latest Intel drivers (network, video ,etc) are installed.

2 weeks ago I moved to Windows so I could run HD Audio Passthrough (Atmos) – was on FTV2 w/ SPMC and didn’t have any of these issues.

My Windows issues seem are random time-wise but happen with every video. I’ve tested about 30-40 different videos (720, 1080, different audio & video encoding, etc)…

1. dropped/skipped frames (looks like video ‘pauses’ but audio is fine) – almost always happens a few minutes before the end of the video, but also happens at different times during.
2. small amt of tearing – often happens in scenes with little/no motion.
3. Audio drop outs about every 30-60 seconds on HD audio (DTS-MA & TrueHD) – no issues on standard DTS & DD 5.1 or lower encoding

All of my Intel Gfx settings are default. I have tried Kodi ‘sync to display’ (on & off), and tried using ‘Acceleration’ with Software, Auto, DXVA.

My only changes to AdvancedSettings.XML is…

Quote: <network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode> <!– Default is 1 –>
<cachemembuffersize>52428800</cachemembuffersize> <!– Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB –>
<readbufferfactor>2.0</readbufferfactor> <!– Default is 1.0 –>
</network>

this is from GuiSettings.XML…
