Could do with help: iOS 8.1 mirroring to Kodi 16.1 Jarvis

Hi all

Trying to suss mirroring from an iPad (iOS 8.1) to Jarvis 16.1 Android (I refer to the official advertised build from Kodi.tv)

I’m rigging a FireTV stick for a relative in time for Xmas.
In the past, I run OSMC (based on Jarvis), and Kodi will not mirror the iOS setup.

So, for the relative, I bought Reflector for the FireStick from the Amazon store.
It’s okay… It works… And it’s quick.. but the resolution is low.

So I continued to trial and error with Kodi , hit AirPlay on the iPad, selected the target (FireStick), and I was incredibly surprised to see if actually mirror the iPad on the TV! Honestly, this was a small revelation for me because not only did it work, it seemed to be much much higher resolution than through Reflector app.

So there I was, all my ideals come true, mirroring at high quality, running Google Music on the iPad, looked beautiful on the telly. For a laugh, I even opened Google Photos and thought nahhh no way this will work … and wow! There is was, not only playing beloved photos but also the videos! (AND with Google music playing along in the background!)

—- but it was not to last!

—every time I try to mirror after that one time, it will NOT mirror at all.
I select the target, the blue bar at top of iPad displays to.show mirroring in progress (but nothing appears on the TV, and after a few SEC’s iPad returns to normal state (ie AirPlay OFF).

Peculiar behaviour and I can’t work out the best way to beat it.

As I say, I always thought airplay on Kodi was troubled… (it has been), but to see this work was just so unexpected.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on? Other strange things…

The icon which displays on the iPad next to the ‘target’ is not always the same.
——Sometimes it looks like a TV, sometimes like a vertical logo. What’s with that?

Anyways, thx for reading, sorry so long. Just rly want to get this sorted for Xmas.
