Hi,
I have a Windows 7 computer acting as a server for a few FireTV / FireTV stick devices using a centralized MySQL DB and SMB for file sharing. Everything works ok. The server has an SSD and a big mechanical HDD. The system, mysql server, programs etc are all on the SSD but all of my media is on the HDD, naturally. I’ve setup Windows to shut down the HDD after some idle time, I like this and would like to keep it this way.
The minor nuisance is that when I first want to play something on Kodi after the HDD has shut down, the time it takes to spin back to life seems to be slightly higher than the current SMB timeout, prompting Kodi to think the source is unavailable. Telling it I don’t want to remove it from the library and trying again works always. Now, I don’t mind the wait, but it would be nice if I can increase the SMB timeout in my clients (make them more patient, so to speak) so that there is enough time for the disk spin-up and so eliminate the false sense of unavailability. Can it be done? If so, how?
Thanks for the help!
