Mac mini networking and remote clusterfrack

I’m about to drop-kick my Mac mini out into the street. From time to time, with absolutely no changes by me, it will decide to lose it’s ability to communicate over the network. It can’t access the media files on my server via NFS, and I can’t connect to it by screen sharing. The only way to get it back is restarting.

But wait – there’s more!! After restarting, the remote (Harmony) doesn’t work. If I fiddle with it long enough, it will start iTunes and start controlling its volume. The only way to fix THAT I’ve found is to uninstall and reinstall the Candelair driver in System Preferences, which involves restarting the fracking Mac mini AGAIN.

One or both of these issues has been an occasional frustration for years, striking for no apparent reason, then not happening again. Now it seems like every time I go to use Kodi, both happen. Any advice would be appreciated.
