Initial attempts at getting my DVD collection ripped and playing on Kodi (v17), and having problems.
Used BDloct DVD ISO Master to copy entire region 1 DVD to .iso on NAS drive. In Kodi navigate to it in file view and hit play. Film menu comes up, select play and get a “This disc is not formatted to play in this region” message. If I go to setting and set “Force DVD region” to 1 then it will play.
I had hoped that Kodi would be able to just play all my DVDs (mix of region 1 and region 2 discs) without having to faff with settings every time. Can It? Do I have to do something when I rip? Removing region when ripping still had the same issue.
Maybe I am approaching this the wrong way? Space is not an issue, and I do want to keep the version variations that come with some of the movies, hence looking at ISO instead of mkv. I started out (decades ago!) with a chipped DVD player to avoid region lock, then multi-region support arrived, I am hoping that Kodi can cope seamlessly with this too.
More boradly how best to approach ripping my DVD collection to NAS drive to play via Kodi?
