Kodi 17 Krypton RC3 – Android 5.x, AMLOGIC S905 using SERVIIO DLNA server (In KODI – UPNP),
I have several old movies that are 4:3 (608×464) AVI that show the beginning production company or studio intro 16:9 Stretch (s/b 4:3) KODI Default is NORMAL then main video comes and and resizes to 4:3 but the the panels on each side of the 4:3 have the last “STRETCH” frame staying the rest of the movie. I have noticed this on many of my vintage (early 1940’s) movies and this is a new “Feature” of KODI that has appeared since sometime in early to mid-December (sometime before the 12 Dec ARM 32 Krypton nightly). Prior to that, the videos played properly in KODI, both the the nightlies and KODI 16.1 Jarvis.
They also play correctly on my Samsung SmartTV (not KODI) and my Toshiba SmartTV (not KODI)
I have not tested many other formats but the same behavior has been observed in MP4 and MKV particularly when the intro is really Widescreen 1080p or 720p but the mode changes to 4:3. (For Instance, Star Trek Episodes at 576x – The original series, Voyager and The Next Generation episodes).
The videos play normally, for instance, in VLC (Android or Windows 7, Windows XP versions).
Would be nice if the sidebars of 4:3 would be erased when video resolution changes during playback.
