Stuttering/buffering halfway through movies

I’m new to Kodi so sorry if this topic is not new.
I have a Sony Bravia running 16.1 and it seems that whenever i watch a movie or something in HD, the video starts to buffer and stutter about halfway through and will not stop.
Are these TVs just not powerful enough? I have a very good, hardwired internet connection so I don’t think that’s the culprit.
Again sorry if I’m beating a dead horse but any help is appreciated.
