Hi everyone.
I hope that I’m posting this in the right place. We have 5 computers in our home, they’re all Linux machines. Recently we purchased 2 TV Boxes with Kodi since we’d like to get our two “TV Computers” running more energy efficiently. We tried the first TV Box and it worked beyond our expectations. Can’t believe how fantastic the performance is. We also have 2 external media drives which are connected via USB to our Livingroom computer. The Livingroom computer also serves as the Server for other machines in the home, in order to have access to the movies and TV shows that are on the external USB drives. Here’s where my questions come into play …
The first Media box with Kodi had no problem at all, gaining access to the external media drives from the Livingroom machine via SSH. However, now we want to use a TV Box with Kodi in the Livingroom as well. Obviously the user name and password that we were using on the Linux machine before … in order to gain remote access with SSH … would no longer exist. So once we have both TV boxes with Kodi set up, with one of them having the external drives attached, how do we then gain access to those external drives from the other TV Box which has no drives attached to it? Both of the boxes are identical. One of them has the external drives attached to it.
We want to have access to those external drives from the other TV box as well … TV Box to TV Box, for lack of better words.
I’m not a tech or LAN guru, so please be technically gentle with your replies.
Oh, before I forget, both TV Boxes are connected to Gigabit LAN cables, no Wifi.
Thanks.
