Deinterlace DVd problem

I have Kodi 17 on a Lubuntu 16.10 box. When i put a DVD disc on kodi I cannot see the video but i canhear the audio track. To see the video i have to go to video setting and put “deinterlace” option to off? Why Furthermore i have to repeat this action everytime i want to play a vd. Is there a way to set the deinterlace option by default to off?. Thanks
