Downloading Kodi on Amazon Fire TV Box

Hello,
I am a total beginner at this and this is my first post so please bear with me.
I have purchased an Amazon box and tried to download Kodi using a YouTube tutorial. The first part, loading ES seemed to go OK but then I hit a problem with the Kodi download and got a message “Unsupported Browser Link.. Amazon does not open browser links…..”
I do not know if this is Amazon blocking the download or BT who I use for internet. I read this could be BT and disabled their Smart Set up or something. On the Kodi download I now see a series of files “kodi-20170303-e3c872-……. 83m”. I don’t know what this means or where I am in the installation.
Can anyone help me please?
