Adding Movies and Tv Shows without library

My dad got an android box that had Kodi installed and setup from a guy at work. The other day something happened and Kodi got reset. I’ve learned how to install add-ons and such, but when we first got it the Kodi home screen (using the default Confluence skin) had Movies and Tv Shows as well as the other choices. After searching around I read that you need to setup a library to have those options appear. We’ve never had local content, just used the add-ons to watch stuff. Under movies and tv shows it just listed a bunch of add-ons. Is it possible to get that setup again?
