Please help! Kodi 17.1 not working on fire stick

Hi I was using kodi 16.1 successfully for 7 months on my fire stick and I received a message to update to the kodi 17.1. I used es explorer to down load kodi 17.1 and it acted like it was opening up for the first time but the screen went black and took me to the amazon home screen. Developer options under system settings are turned on. I deleted kodi and downloaded it again this time through the downloader app. It once again said successfully down loaded and acted like its opening for the first time but screen goes black and takes me to amazon home screen. I went into application settings and cleared the cache and data and force stop. It once again acted like it was opening for the first time but the screen goes black and takes me back to amazon home screen. I did a system reset on the firestick and re downloaded kodi 17.1 through the downloader app and the same thing happened. I took the fire stick to a friends house last night for help and he plugged it in and kodi opened right up on his internet. When I brought it back home the same problem as before. The kodi will not open for me. I am at a loss of why because my internet worked fine with kodi 16.1 before and it currently works fine for every other app. Please help!
