So I have been having an issue with Passthrough since version 14. Ever Since 15.x, I have just disabled Passthrough and made Kodi run 5.1 to my receiver. Things have been working but I feel that I may be missing out and not getting DTS-HD for instance.
So I did a bunch of testing last night. Upgraded to 16 and now, 17 (nightly distro). When I enable Passthrough, I can actually get the A/V receiver to show DTS-HD and the blue light is indeed showing on the receiver panel! Unfortunately, there is no audio. Kodi show it’s outputting DTS-HD 7.1. Windows 7 is configured for 5.1 and same with the A/V recevier. When using a Blu-Ray player, blue light is on indicating HD audio and the 7.1 signal would be worked out by the receiver and audio would come through as 5.1. It seems as though Kodi is processing something in the middle and not passing on a signal that the receiver can interpret. Not sure if that is the correct term but I see Kodi playing DTS-HD 7.1 but I do not hear any audio in my 5.1 set up. When I manually select a 5.1 audio track, audio works again.
I have scoured this forum and many others and noticed other people reportin Passthrough issues with 16 and lower versions. I was hoping there was a fix coming in Version 17. Am I missing something in the setup? Is anyone also having issues with getting HD audio (say DTS-HD 7.1) to play properly on a 5.1 set up?
