I’m running 8.0.1 LibreELEC on a Pi 3 and have made no recent changes of any kind when this bug started to pop up, so I was wondering if anyone else was having it or if I’m having a slow hardware failure.
I started noticing it on a few movies, which has now increased over time and happens even in the Kodi menus, that when there would be a quick cut with a significant shift in brightness to a brighter screen, it would look like my screen was split down the middle – one half being slightly brighter than the other. I thought it was an artifact of a bad video file, then it started showing up in other videos (I was watching the Rifftrax of Star Wars Episode I last night and the very bright desert scenes with quick cuts meant that it was regularly having this weird video splitting, as often as every few seconds.) It goes away about a half second after a major shift upwards in brightness. I can even do it on the Kodi menu screens by quickly switching pages in Estuary and having the changes in background fanart set it off. I rebooted the Pi, I unplugged everything and examined the Pi, I tested apps on my TV, I tested other video sources over HDMI to the TV; the Pi is the only thing having this problem and nothing seems to fix it. Since the weird artifact only lasts around a half second (at most) and, even if I pause it, continues to resolve itself to look normal, I can’t get a picture of the problem and I’m assuming it’s some issue with the Pi hardware. But before I get a new board or do something else, I figured I’d ask if anyone had seen this problem or can think of anything else I should check.
