Sorry for making an account just to post this here. I ‘ve been checking the forum quite often lately, but I coulnd’t make an account (after a lot of trying I found my addblocker disabled the account creation process).
I’ve been working with Kodi / XBMC on Windows for years and used Raspberry before I bought a Philips 55PUS6401 smart TV. Received this one late december and while it looks great the OS was a mess. After a few upgrades the TV now doesn’t crash this often, but running Kodi on top of Android TV and Philips own apps causes troubles often. Sometimes my audio won’t start cause the software doesn’t detect I changed source. Other times my harddrive fails to spinup. But that’s not why I am posting here 
Yesterday I did a complete factory reset for the TV and installed Kodi. Now, at the moment of this post, I reinstalled the TV thrice + I installed Kodi around 15 times. I cannot figure out what exactly goes wrong, but I now know it has something to do with Kodi, although I cannot exactly recreate the steps.
This is what happens:
– Fresh install of Kodi
– Run addons (language, subtitels, etc.)
– Add liberaries (samba, from Raspberry Pi)
Kodi won’t install addons or won’t get movie/tv show information at some point (while it works one minute and the other it doesn’t). Had this bug when I loaded the tv shows first or / and when installed plugins. There is just no really clear reason except that it looks that Kodi crashes after certain time or after the DB reaches a certain size (which shouldn’t be that big). I even tested it by skipping some addons or by just installing random ones.
Tried resetting Kodi.
Also experimented with creating more size / space on the harddisk
With getting a static IP (since I thought Kodi couldn’t connect to the internet)
And more things
I understand the above might not help / lead to a solution, but I am hoping you can help me find more clues which lead to the solution. The logs in Kodi do not show anything. I am now considering to install 17.2 beta from an apk file. Besides that I am clueless. Literaly spent above 10 hours trying to find out if a certain file or extension crashes it. But it’s all very random.
TL;DR:
Reinstall from Kodi leads to crash after adding some addons / tvshow files. No clear reason, no error (just installation failed, or failed to connect to the database for fetching files. Android TV 6.1, Kodi 17.1 (fresh install). Let me know if I should post more inf.
