When using Kodi in Fullscreen movies won’t play

This is very weird to me but If I go to my settings and select to run Kodi in Fullscreen then try to play any movie from any source it won’t load it just starts and says buffering then switches to seeking it does this over and over and the movie never starts but if I switch to run Kodi in windowed mode then launch a movie it plays fine……anyone have any clue why this would be?
