I recently moved from Kodi 16 to Kodi 17. Because of previous issues, I did a clean install of 17.1 this time (i.e., uninstalled 16 and started fresh).
I am unable to install from any repositories.
Symptoms:
1) Couldn’t open the Kodi repo right after the install. After reading other posts, I tried opening it using a proxy, and was able to open OK (installed the Backup addon). **Don’t want to run the proxy al the time because it slows things down a bit.
2) Tried to add a weather service without using the proxy and it didn’t work. (Snippet from log below). ** Before you blame my ISP…
3) From inside Kodi, I opened Chrome and went to the same site and was able to download the zip file which installed fine.
4) Other symptom but not sure if it is related — if I have a movie that is not recognized (I had some of the DVD extras from one in my library), the scan stops with a “Unable to connect to remote server” error message.
So, I have a workaround, but it’s a real pain. It doesn’t look like an ISP issue — my ISP is one of the most open around.

Any suggestions appreciated.
