I just got a Fire TV Stick from best buy so I believe it’s the quad core generation 2 type stick.Questions first but please read below for context. Installed ES File Explorer and loaded Kodi – kodi-17.3-Krypton-armeabi-v7a.apk
I’ll do questions first but read below for context.
First question: Can Kodi passthrough or bitstream FLAC files (or mp3 files for that matter)?
Second question: Regardless of question 1, can/will kodi decode FLAC 5.1 (or 7.1) to PCM 5.1 and transmit losslessly to my receiver? In other words will kodi losslessly decode the hd audio and send it to the receiver via lossless PCM?
I’ve been trying to figure out the audio settings and am a little confused about number of channels, output config and resample quality. Basically, I don’t want to resample, stereo upmix or anythign like that…I want to AVOID ALL TRANSCODING (including video) and just send lossless audio to my receiver…I am fine with sending PCM streams if necessary.
I have a 5.1 Yamaha system so I’m assuming I need to set the channels to 5.1?
What do the output configs do? Should I be using FIXED?
How can I PREVENT resampling?
Context: I use PS3 Media Server loaded in a Win8 PC as my media server because I love how simple it is, and it just works. I encode all my videos to the specs that I want so I don’t want PLEX transcoding and messing up all my hard work. I encode two audio streams per file, one in FLAC (either 5.1 or 7.1) to keep the high fidelity lossless audio for streaming to my 5.1 system with Yamaha receiver and to keep the ability to re-encode new audio stream types down the line if necessary and then also a Lame mp3 v2 2.0 file for streaming to my regular TVs that don’t have a high end sound system.
Thanks for any help
Ben
