Kodi won’t open on firestick

Hello, I had the old version of kodi but have only recently installed the newest version of it onto my firestick. However, the app won’t open. It will go to a grey screen and then kick me back to the page I was on before. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app with no fix. I have no idea what to do to get the app to open and run please help.
