I’ve been learning about HDCP 2.2 – That this is a new copy protection for 4K TV that actually encrypts everything to the point the U.S. government would be pleased with its security…
Anyway one feature of HDCP 2.2 is that it looks at the response time from say a Blu-Ray player to the TV. And it needs to be under so many milliseconds for the signal to get to the TV. Or it will not play 4K content!
Which begs the question… How is it that I am able to receive YouTube 4K videos. The time for me to receive that must be WAY longer than this security specification.
Is it that Blu-Ray DVD’s are copy protected, but these 4K YouTube videos have that “turned off” or something?
So it says with HDCP 2.2 you can’t receive anything from a long distance, yet this seems to be ok with Netflix, YouTube, etc. ?
