I’m using Android on Raspberry PI4b and decided to plug my old 5.1 speakers to it. I found how to configure the sound policy to allow multichannel sound output via USB and got my 7.1 channel sound card working (SoundBlaster X3). I was testing for some time only with VLC and and banging my head why there is no multichannel sound when I found an old post:

and tried again with KODI just to find that my setup actually works and the surround sound works with it, just not with VLC even when passthrough is selected. Tested this with the latest RTW version and few nightly builds. I can confirm with KODI (also MPV and Nova player) I get surround sound with the AOSP 13/14, Lineage21 builds of KonstaKANG:
