I recently bought an ICY BOX and put an 18 TB hard drive in it. I connected the box to my ASUS RT-AC68U router via USB 3.
I put some movies on the drive, some with built-in subtitles and some with .srt-files.
When I try to play the movies on KODI via smb, only the movies with built-in subs will play, the others won’t.
The movies with separate .srt-files crash after 5-10 seconds and KODI returns to the dashboard/desktop/whatever you call it.
Movies on my Synology NAS and usb-connected hard drives play fine, regardless of subtitles being built-in or separate.
It must be a KODI issue, because Plex has none of these issues on my Shield.
I installed KODI on my Windows PC and there’s no problem. All the movies play.
The issue must be with the ICY BOX, my router or the Nvidia Shield, I don’t know.
