VLC media player for Windows Troubleshooting • Re: Font Size in Menus in 3.0.18

I’m on VLC 3.0.20 in Windows 11 Pro 64-bit & there is still no way to control the size of fonts in the VLC UI. I want to emphasize, as our original poster did above, that I am not talking about subtitles. I am talking about the VLC user interface. Actually, my menu font & its size are fine for me. My problem is the Playlist & the Preferences dialog. Everything in both of those is so small I have to put on my reading glasses to see any of it. That is after I popped up the context menu in the Playlist & selected Display size -> Increase. It doesn’t do diddly squat. Decrease similarly does nothing. I found this discussion:

https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph … 0&p=542411

In that discussion, our friend @Lotesdelere claims there is nothing in VLC for controlling the UI font. I did the thing where you go into the Windows properties of vlc.exe & fiddle with the Compatibility settings, a futile exercise that does not affect anything at all as far as I can tell. All claims that VLC uses the operating system fonts are incorrect. If VLC used my system font setting, I wouldn’t be here complaining. I am here to lobby for the addition of a way to control the UI font in VLC. Either correct the part of VLC that you think uses the system font but actually does not. Or supply a control somewhere — in the Preferences, on a menu, I don’t really care where — that controls font settings inside the VLC UI. This is about the simple ergonomics of the product. It should not be necessary at this late date to be asking for something as fundamental as this. This should have been part of the product years ago. Whatever. Fix it now.
