I’m an idiot.I only click on folders to play my music. Why bother letting VLC take an hour to index when I don’t even want to see a list of artists/tracks/albums/whatever. I use my folder system to choose composer/type of piece/piece.
Turns out, indexing actually matters.
I’m not sure this helped (although it certainly didn’t hurt), but I let VLC move itself to my microSD card, where my 560GB of music resides.
Problem solved. Well, the app problem, not the idiot problem.

Did indexing or transferring VLC to the card help you? I don’t have a standard way to transfer an application to an SD card, so I don’t know if it makes sense to look for how to transfer an application?
