I’ve been a user and admirer of VLC in Windows, and now on my Mac for many years. I had a brainstorm the other day to find a way to stream a dedicated streaming public URL. VLC seemed to be the answer, but I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to this, so pardon any ignorance on my part.
On other devices – iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows 10, etc., when I click on 2 particular URLs they load a page with a thumbnail of the pending video stream and a play button right in the center. The URLs format like this: https://www.tv****.one (you don’t see it often, but the domain really is dot-one)
I’m avoiding putting the actual URL in there as a courtesy to the person that owns the server, but if needed I can ask him or at least PM those that need it
Some audio streams I listen to with dedicated URLs also don’t work, so I think it’s something I’m missing
When I go to the Network Stream Menu in VLC on my ATV 4K 3rd gen, I add in the URL (including the https:// part) and it says please wait, then goes back to the main screen. I thought there may be some underlying additional URL characters, but adding them didn’t really help. I’m sure it’s something simple. Probably I’m doing something wrong, or there’s a bug, or something is misconfigured. Any ideas here? Thanks so much for reading and any insight you can share!
