I’m pretty new to using Kodi so forgive me if I’m missing something easy here but I’ve been trying to use Plex for Kodi (dontpanickodi) on a Fire TV Stick 4k Max and I’m having issues with 4k content stuttering / freezing constantly (sometimes every few seconds, sometimes after a couple minutes), sometimes with the audio dropping out as well.
So far I’ve had this issue with MKV files playing TrueHD Audio and DTS-HD and MP4 with DTS-HD (seemed worse on the MP4, basically unwatchable). Tried changing the audio track to AC3 5.1 and disabling passthrough and still had the same problem. On a 1080p movie with TrueHD I did not have the same issue. I’m running the firestick on wifi 6; don’t think it is a LAN speed issue since I don’t have the same problem when running Kodi on an XBOX One S. Hope I am not missing anything obvious; definitely far from an expert on any of this.
I read through this thread 377579 (thread) and while the issue seemed somewhat similar (mine is more frequent), I have Kodi updated to the latest nightly and it does not seem to help. I also updated SMB Client and caching settings to those recommended in the above thread. Log is linked below, playback starts around 08:08:09.781
