I don’t know if this was the same issue but here was the issue for me:
While watching Simpsons Season 6 DVDs on my Mac, and enabling the embedded “Deleted scenes” option while playing the episodes (what is called the “Seamless branching” technique to play additional content during a movie/episode on a DVD), the issue of VLC cutting before the end of the video was really visible as it was cutting a few seconds of video each time the episode goes to a deleted scene, and each time it goes back to the episode. Pretty bad as many jokes are placed at the end of a scene…
I asked ChatGPT for help and while it did not give me the right solution, it helped me tinker with some advanced VLC options.
What eventually solved the issue for me was setting the “Disc caching” to 0 ms (in the advanced VLC settings > Input / Codecs).
ChatGPT told me to increase the cache but when I did, it made things even worse. But putting it to 0 seemed to be the right thing to do.
Hope it can help others in the same situation.
