I have the original Star Trek series which scrapes quite nicely from TVDB. Next to the regular seasons 1, 2 and 3 I also have two specials. The first isn’t a problem because TVDB lists it under specials, so naming the file Star Trek The Original Series S00E01 - The Cage - Original Pilot.avi
works. So far so good.
But I also have another special: the “unseen pilot” that was initially rejected by the network. (Quite unusually, a second pilot was then made which became known as the “original” pilot.) This one is NOT listed with TVDB. I don’t know the origins of this file; it’s not part of the regular DVD set. It may not even be an official release. Not unlike many old classic Dr. Who episodes it’s not quite complete and has been restored and/or cobbled together from separate bits of recovered archive footage. Some is in color, some is B/W, image and sound quality vary, etc. – it’s more a historic document for geeks than a regularly watchable episode.
I want to add this to the series in my Kodi video library, for which an NFO file seems to be the tool of choice. However I’m a little confused about the need for a series NFO file in this case. Can I just add one episode file for this special (in the same folder as the video file) or do I need, as per the Wiki, a series NFO file as well? In that case, will that interfere with regular scraping? The rest of the series scrapes fine and I want to keep it that way.
Any and all advise would be appreciated!
