"Radio": What's that menu for?

Kodi v21.1 from current Debian testing repository here.

I humbly ask for forgiveness but after half a day of attempts I can’t find a way to load a m3u playlist to populate the “Radio” menu; the “All channels” list remains empty (it shows only “..”) no matter what I do (I’d like to post some screenshots but it seems impossible, sorry).

I found some add-on which adds itself to the “Music” menu… by adding the playlist to the “IPTV Simple Client” PVR, the radio channels show up into the “TV” menu, mixed with TV channels; tried to add the URL of the playlist as a new “source” in “settings/File manager” and tried add-ons to no avail; nothing appears in the “Radio” menu, whatever I do.

Can someone explain me how to add a playlist of radio streams in the “Radio” menu? Why can’t I just do what I did to add a playlist of IPTV streams to the “TV” menu with the “IPTV Simple Client” PVR?

Thanks!
