I am having trouble with HDR support in Kodi on my current Windows setup. I am running the latest version of Windows and the latest version of Kodi. Windows is set to HDR which renders a high quality image, on all applications except Kodi. I am seeing the following issues:
Black levels too high: The black levels in Kodi seem too high, making parts of the Estuari interface too contrasty, and even making some parts invisible on other dark skins, like here:
Experiments: When I turn HDR off from Windows to see if that improves the situation, the colors become too saturated. The color range options in Kodi (16-235) do the opposite, the image is washed out, the blacks gray, which makes sense here.
I think an improvement in HDR handling could significantly improve the user experience, especially for users with HDR displays. Is there a possibility to optimize HDR support in future Kodi updates?
