Audio clipping/static with WASPI

I’ve had this problem forever, and it’s got me at my wits end. I have done everything I can to narrow it down, including completely different hardware (different motherboard, chipset, cpu, video card [intel HD onboard, AMD 290x, now nVidia 970tgx).

If i use WASPI out over HDMI to my Yamaha receiver, I will definitely get clipping/static at all volume levels on all bitstreamed content. If I take the same mkv and play it via VLC or Plex, I have no such clipping. I am using the term clipping, but it sounds much more like ‘loose speaker wire’ type static. Of that weird ‘not quite in there’ static you can get while plugging in headphones to an analog jack. It’s brief but consistent.

It isn’t absolute ‘volume’ type clipping, in fact most loud scenes do not exhibit it. It is almost ALWAYS voices, near the higher registers. Volume can be turned down to almost inaudible at night and still clip. I can go through an entire massive battle at full volume with no clipping, then the next dialog it starts.

Any help? Yamaha RX-V675.. Should be noted this is in all receiver modes, but I mostly run it “straight” with 0 enhancers or other features enabled Multiple complete computers, and multiple HDMI cables. Same source files are fine in Kodi if I disable Passthrough. Same source files exhibit NO clipping/static if played via PS4 with Bitstreaming enabled on same input/hdmi cable.

I’d be happy to submit any logs or do any sort of troubleshooting. I don’t think providing a sample file would be very helpful as it’s literally every file I have that utilized passthrough.
