Always downconvert to stereo for HDMI, but do DTS/AC3 passthrough for SPDIF ?

Hi guys,

First of all thank you for this great forum.
I did some searching but I could not find anything regarding my question so I decided to post it here as a feature request.
(Please move it to the correct (sub)forum if this is not the right location..)

I have a DTS/AC3 capable receiver which is connected to my Wetek Core using SPDIF.
My tv is connected using HDMI and cannot do DTS nor AC3, so I guess that only leaves 2 channels LPCM.

When enabling passthrough and configuring it correctly I get nice audio out of my AVR.
I also upmix my stereo MP3’s so they play over all my speakers, very nice.

During this my tv produces no audio, I think that’s normal because DTS/AC3 will be sent over HDMI as well and my tv cannot handle it, obviously.
Is there a way to configure Kodi to always send 2 channel LPCM data over HDMI in any situation?
This comes in handy when I don’t want to use my AVR at night or when one of the children simply wants to see some simple movie or TV Show using only the tv.
I remember my old xbox with XBMC already had this behaviour …

I guess it comes down to this, to have 2 different passthrough sections (with settings), one for SPDIF and one for HDMI.
Would that be possible at all? Is this a Kodi feature or is this a platform issue (Wetek Core in my case) ?

Thank you for any input at all!
