Hello everyone, thank you in advance for taking a look at this. I read the wiki on importing videos at least ten times just to make sure i’m not missing a step. I’ve been searching the forums for three days and not finding an answer so it looks like i need some help. I’ve come to the point where I think either my install is messed up or i’m missing something really dumb.
The specs:
Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian Jessie
Kodi 15.2
2tb external hard drive plugged in
The issue:
No matter how I import my video files, I can’t seem to get them to show up in my Movies library database. In fact, if I import them as content type>movies, they won’t show up at all (in files, or anywhere) but if I import them as content type>tv shows, they will at least show up as files under the videos tab and I can play them, but they still don’t show up under movies or under tv shows in the menu.
I start by going to videos, then files, then add videos, then select my movies folder on my external hard drive
Then I select movies from the drop down options
So far I’ve tried:
1. using the Movie Database to look things up
2. saying “local info only”
3. selecting the seperate folders thing
4. NOT selecting the separate folders
5. scan recursivly
6. NOT scan recursivly
All of these options end me with no files. If I do select to search the movie database, it takes about 5 minutes doing this:
but if I select movies or TV shows from the main menu:
I get this, just an empty page with 0 items listed in the top corner, and the option to go back
I’ve selected “Update library” from the side menu, it seems to rescan everything and then nothing is different.
If I go to Videos>Files and select the folder I just imported, I also get the same empty page with 0 Items listed at the top. UNLESS I select “this directory contains tv shows”. In which case, I still have nothing under the “Tv shows” for the main menu, but all of my folders show under videos>files>movies and I can select and play any of them
This is how i have my hard drive organized:
and I thought maybe there was an issue with my folder structure, so I put a few in a folder called “test” without any subfolders, renamed them really plainly without any extra info in the filename (like 1080p_2003 stuff) and then tried importing just that folder by itself
and it still doesn’t show any movies under the move database (i tried importing this folder from the Movie Database, local only, scan recursivly, ect, the folder still shows as completly empty to Kodi.)
again, if I added the test folder as “tv shows” I could at least access the files through Kodi, but still not in Movies or TV shows on the main menu.
Am I doing something incredibly stupidly wrong? Thank you again for any help
