VR support with head tracking SPORTS?

I was watching football today (NFL) and thought “It would be SO cool to watch this in my VR headset with head tracking working”. Not in 3D, but just so the screen was larger than the view area, so you would need to turn your head to see from side to side. It would be just like being there! I think all you would have to do is make the picture bleed off the screen and then use head tracking to move around the image. Kind of like sitting in front of a HUGE TV! With the camera angles, it may even feel like you are ON the field watching!
