Channel logo’s (channel icons) not automatically found

To try LibreELEC is created a new sdcard with Kodi 16.1 (RPi3, LibreELEC 7.0.2).

I restored a backup from Kodi 15 (OpenELEC 6.0.3), where I had my channel logos (channel icons) installed in /storage/.kodi/system (I can’t remember the reason for selecting this location)
With Kodi 16.1 the hidden directory looks not selectable anymore, so I created a new directory, and moved the channel logos to /storage/tv/logos/
I expected (hoped) that, after configuring the folder with my channel logos (System > Settings > TV > Menu / OSD > Folder with channel icons), and selecting ‘Scan for missing icons’, the icons with matching channels would be selected automatically.
But that didn’t happen.

Example:
Channel name: NPO 1 HD
(Name Channel manager)

Code:
# ls -la /storage/tv/logos/NP*
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         21235 May 28  2016 /storage/tv/logos/NPO 1 HD.png
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         23563 May 28  2016 /storage/tv/logos/NPO 2 HD.png
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         30482 May 28  2016 /storage/tv/logos/NPO 3 HD.png

Are there any additional actions/settings/guidelines I need to follow to have the channel logos automatically chosen for the channels?
I did select each channel icon manually, but hope this is not needed if the setup is correct.

(At the moment the Kodi GUI doesn’t work anymore. If an re-install is needed it would save me a lot of time if the channel logo’s got selected automatically.)
