Hi, I don’t know what exactly is causing this but every time I go to play a movie (SD, 720, 1080) and I am casting my desktop on my laptop to my Samsung smart tv through Google chromecast the movie plays for about half an hour and then the audio garbles and drops. The video keeps streaming. First I thought it was this chromecast device that was to blame but then I played an hd movie outside of Kodi and it played perfectly so it must be something in the audio settings in Kodi that does not agree with my smart tv and the fact that this happens close to half an hour every time suggests to me that there is a buffer somewhere that gets filled up.
I turned on error logging and all I see is that close to half an hour into the log the internal player just closes:
03:11:27 T:9292 NOTICE: CDVDPlayer::CloseFile()
03:11:27 T:9292 NOTICE: DVDPlayer: waiting for threads to exit
03:11:27 T:10036 NOTICE: CDVDPlayer::OnExit()
03:11:27 T:10036 NOTICE: Closing stream player 1
03:11:27 T:10036 NOTICE: Waiting for audio thread to exit
03:11:27 T:3724 NOTICE: thread end: CDVDPlayerAudio::OnExit()
03:11:27 T:10036 NOTICE: Closing audio device
03:11:27 T:3724 DEBUG: Thread DVDPlayerAudio 3724 terminating
03:11:27 T:9904 DEBUG: CActiveAE::DiscardStream – audio stream deleted
I thought may be changing Kodi to use an external player may fix the problem. Any opinions on this? Also, does anybody know how to change Kodi to use an external player. Like I said I have a Samsung smart tv so is there a specific external player specifically for a smart tv. I looked online about using an extplayer and it does not seem straightforward.
Thank you, Darryl.
