Hey all,
As I love Kodi’s Video and Music streaming ability’s, I’ve learned to hate the picture section.
When I try to open a folder with 1000+ images in it, Kodi gives a dialog ‘reading image information’ (something like that, translated) . This dialog remains for ages finally resulting in a freeze or sudden reboot.
Same thing happens when I try to start a ‘slideshow with folders’.
Only with low number of images in a folder this will work.
To my surprise, this is also the case when trying to start a slideshow from Upnp source; it just takes ages to load. Compared this with my Samsung tv connecting to upnp source just starts displaying images immediately.
Is Kodi trying to load all image information in memory before it starts displaying
?
Not very efficient if that’s the case.
For me the Kodi Picture section is unusable like this.
I’m currently using Kodi 18.0 Alpha on RaspberryPi2 running Libreelec.

Problems occur with or without picture database addon, and seem not Kodi Build related, I have this problem since Kodi 16 official. It has just never worked.
Any help or suggestion much appreciated
