mySQL library shared OK, but db full of original files too

I fumbled through the procedure to switch from a local to shared database. I misunderstood the directions for exporting and re-scanning, so I deleted all the export files, then re-scanned (metadata from the web) after changing the sources to be the smb:// share format. I think that’s what I did. The shared Kodi library works fine from my other 2 Kodi instances. However…

Looking at the database with phpmyadmin, I see all the original files from the local file system (/home/…), plus all the files again for the shares (smb://…). I even see all the poster.jpg and banner.jpg files from my failed export attempt, even though these have been deleted from disk. Of course, the video files still exist in the local file system (/home/…) but sources.xml file contains only the smb:// share syntax.

I also see old video files that have been deleted, such as a miniseries of avi files that was replaced by the same series with mkv files. This was done long ago and doesn’t seem related to recently sharing the Kodi library.

The Kodi “clean library” function doesn’t clean any of this up. What should I do to make it clean?

I don’t mind clearing out the entire database if that’s the answer, but I guess I’m not sure how to do this. Well, one idea that occurs to me is to temporarily rename my media folder on the local file system, and _then_ run the Kodi “clean library” step? Then put the media folder back and do “update library”? Do I first have to add the local filesystem sources back for this to work?

Is there a simpler way to just blow the database contents all away and start fresh? I don’t mind losing my watched flags but don’t want to loose my addons and settings.
