Apologies if this information exists but I have been unable to find it.
I am looking for a list of AGP PC video cards which Kodi 16.1 (or 17) is able to make use of the video card hardware acceleration to take load off of the main CPU.
Yes I know this kit is probably 10 years old and PCIe is more popular but I would like to use some old PC kit that has a AGP motherboard as a secondary Kodi media PC rather than just bin it.
So I wish to get a video card, probably second hand for an old PC (motherboard has AGP 8X rather than PCIe) that Kodi is able to use hardware acceleration / processing with for windows 7/8/10 (or even Vista) and would like to hear from people who have had success with any such video cards so I don’t end up with one which Kodi can’t make use of the hardware acceleration.
I have some old video cards already (such as the Radeon 9550) and have used the latest driver available for them installed for windows, and the video card is capable of DXVA2 according to specs/utilities, direct X 11 is install and current, but when kodi 16.1 starts it says the following dreaded message in the log:
“NOTICE: CRenderSystemDX::CreateDevice – Your video driver doesn’t support DirectX 11 Video Acceleration API. Application is not be able to use hardware video processing and decoding”
Grateful for information from anyone succesfully using a AGP video card and Kodi hardware acceleration and can let me know the model.
I will probably want to avoid older ATI cards as AMD are no longer providing driver support for most of the older video cards which they now call “legacy” cards.
