TV Shows with advance tracking

I would like to be able to add my favorite tv shows to some kind of a list/pvr where when I go to it, it shows me what shows have new episodes. I thought trakt would do that by itself, but seems it only creates a collection list. Where can I read/watch video on how to do this?
