I have movies organized as : /Movies/MovieName (Year)/MovieName.mkv. There is also “MovieName.nfo” in the same directory. The problem is that refreshing a single movie’s information is not working. Kodi keeps asking for the movie title. Looking at the debug logs, it looks like it’s not finding the .nfo file. (Interestingly, when scanning the entire source, it has no problem finding and parsing the .nfo file.)
The above behavior is with “movies are in separate folders matching movie title” checked. If I leave that unchecked, then refreshing finds the .nfo file but this is not ideal since Kodi is not reading fanart, poster, etc… as belonging to that file and rather to the folder.
Technically, the folder name doesn’t match the movie title since it has the year in it. Is that an issue? However, adding the year to the movie file name doesn’t resolve the issue. Is there a middle ground where movies are in separate folders but do not exactly match the movie title?
Here is a debug log where I:
1) start Kodi
2) go to Movies
3) right click on a movie -> Information -> Refresh
4) Kodi asks me to enter title – I type “10,000 BC (2008)” and press enter
5 )Kodi asks me to enter title again – I type “10,000 BC” and press enter
6) Kodi asks for title yet again – I press ESC
7) exit Kodi
