I know nothing about the TV streaming scene. I want to divorce DirecTV and go to streaming if I can. The largest obstacle is that my provider is Exede satellite. The service has the speed according to testing sites and program providers. Exede has a no charge download period between midnight and 5 AM. This is important because chargeable traffic gets expensive quickly. I can’t change providers because I live in the Arkansas boonies.
What I would like to be able to do is start, record and save programing while I am snug in my bed. Will Kodi do this natively? To be clear, I am not after live TV. I would like to start the PVR, initiate playback, end the session and repeat the sequence and couple of times after that. I have no interest in piracy (no peg leg or parrot). I just want to record when it’s cheap and watch when its not. Also, I’m 77 years old and I get sleepy around 9 PM. I am running Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS with Gnome desktop.
Thanks for any and all help.
