Can’t get HD Audio Passthrough to work

Hey Forums,

I installed Kodi on a Windows 7 x64 machine with a Nvidia 710GT graphics card.
The graphics card is connected to an Onkyo AVR via an HDMI 2.0 high quality cable.

I did all audio settings according to the Wiki to make HD-Audio work.
In Windows Audio settings “DTS-HD” and “TrueHD” show up as supported codecs. Also the max. channel number for the HDMI Audio connection is 8 as it should be. Check-boxes for exclusive access to the audio device are set.

I enabled audio passthrough in Kodi, but there are NO additional options for selecting/deselecting certain audio codecs to be found.
It doesn’t matter if I select WASAPI or DirectSound as audio device.

I tried to play a Matroska file with a 7.1 DTS-HiRes and 7.1 DTS-MA track. But both tracks get decoded and put out as 8ch PCM.

According to the logfile audio passthrough seems to fail and decoder switches to ffmpeg. But I cannot read any further information out of it.

Quote:17:17:41.020 T:4324 DEBUG: FactoryCodec – Audio: passthrough – Failed
17:17:41.020 T:4324 DEBUG: FactoryCodec – Audio: FFmpeg – Opening
17:17:41.020 T:4324 DEBUG: FactoryCodec – Audio: FFmpeg – Opened

This also happens to DTS-Core 5.1 tracks. Only AC3 5.1 seems to be send as bitstream to the AVR.

Ofcorse the AVR supports all those formats. I’ve been using HD-Audio on the very same connection with a WD TV player for years.

Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you.
