Playing speed

Hi, I am totally new to the Kodi experience and from what I see so far am thrilled. I am having experiences with playing some older tv shows .circa 70-80’s in that shows that appear after a search may not have episodes available or if they do will start playing then slow down or stall after a while. Any suggestions or comments as to why or fixes
